Agronomic feasibility of using basalt powder as soil nutrient remineralizer

نویسندگان

چکیده

Tropical agriculture is highly dependent of soluble fertilizers, what raises the cost production. An alternative to reduce costs inputs use low-cost nutrient sources, such as basic rocks. The aim work was evaluate effect basalt powder on soil chemical properties and plant growth. experiment arranged in a 2×2×2×3+4 factorial scheme: two soils (clay sandy clay loam soil); crops (maize soybean); agricultural (basalt rock limestone); three application rates (33, 66 99 Mg ha–1 or 1, 2 4 limestone), four additional control treatments, with repetitions. resulted greater shoots growth maize soybean plants when compared limestone. Basalt provided significant increase pH, Ca P concentration; however, higher concentration did not result uptake by plants. Even without soil, improved absorption this Key words: Remineralizer, rock, soybean, maize.

Feasibility of cattle urine as nutrient medium for the microalgal biomass production

Thenutrient medium used for the cultivation of microalgae adds more cost to its value-added product as well as the commercial scale application. Therefore in this study, focused feasibility of cattle urine as a cheap source of nutrients for microalgal growth, because, it contains various minerals and economical which may support the growth of microalgae and reduce the medium cost. To check this...

Soil nutrient cycles as a nonlinear dynamical system

An analytical model for the soil carbon and nitrogen cycles is studied from the dynamical system point of view. Its main nonlinearities and feedbacks are analyzed by considering the steady state solution under deterministic hydro-climatic conditions. It is shown that, changing hydroclimatic conditions, the system undergoes dynamical bifurcations, shifting from a stable focus to a stable node an...

Increasing negative charge and nutrient contents of a highly weathered soil using basalt and rice husk to promote cocoa growth under field conditions

Technology intervention is a key success to restore properties and productivities of a highly weathered soil (Oxisols). The main challenge is to find materials with the ability to generate soil negative charge, release various nutrients and suppress toxic elements. The objective of this study was to increase negative charge and nutrient content, and suppress Al and Mn toxicities of an Oxisol us...

Evaluation on Feasibility of Sintered Cattle Bone Powder as a Heavy Metal Adsorbent

Quite some bones of cows and pigs are discharged from home and restaurant industry as food wastes after cooking by boiling. This study conducted adsorption experiment of heavy metals using waste bones as an absorbent for recycling the waste bone and evaluated its feasibility. Sintered cattle bone (SCB) was manufactured in powder form after sintering at 550 ̊C 600 ̊C and pulverizing, and crystal s...

Basalt Frp Composite as Reinforcements in Infrastructure

Basalt continuous fibers are regarded as an inert and naturally occurring material that is produced from basalt rock by using single component raw material and drawing and winding fibers from the melt. Basalt based materials are environmentally friendly and nonhazardous. Basalt FRP (BFRP) composites as a reinforcement not only display a higher strength and modulus, but also a similar cost, and ...
